Burkina Faso & Chad Join Forces for Sustainable Mining Sector

On July 17, Burkinabe Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries Yacouba Zabré Gouba welcomed a delegation from Chad led by Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Geology Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye.

The goal was to enhance bilateral cooperation through a memorandum of understanding for sharing expertise in the mining sector. Both nations strive for a transparent, sustainable, and development-centric environment.

Discussions focused on:

mapping,

mineral analysis,

resource management,

the modernization of mining cadasters.

Chad, currently revising its mining code, looks to Burkina Faso's recent reforms in July 2024 for inspiration.
