Ethiopia Greenlights Construction of Dangote's Second Cement Plant, Official Says

The second cement plant will be built in the Shaggar city — a smart city being built around Addis Ababa, a deputy head of the city's Investment Bureau told a local newspaper.

Land inspections are already underway, the newspaper noted, citing a senior Dangote executive.

Dangote's first Ethiopian plant, built in 2015 near the Mugher city at a cost of $500 million, produces 2.5 million tonnes of cement yearly. In February, the company announced a $400 million plan to expand the facility and double production.
