Ethiopia’s GERD: The Dam of the People, Not of Foreign Dollars"It is totally funded, financed by Ethiopians," Mulugeta Debebe Gemechu, former Ethiopian MP and Assistant Professor at Civil Service University, refuted recent claims made by Donald Trump regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).Contrary to assertions that the dam was financed by the US and drastically reduces Egypt’s water, Mulugeta emphasized:“It only regulates and makes the flow very consistent... Egypt will not be affected, Sudan will not be affected by the Nile flood.”The expert told Sputnik Africa that the GERD stands as a symbol of Ethiopian unity and sovereignty, built through the contributions of citizens from all walks of life — “youngsters, old, poor and deaf... the haves and the have-nots.”“Africans totally should be respected as a nation,” he concluded.Subscribe to @sputnik_africa Sputnik Africa | X
