Ruto Warns Leaders Against Violence Incitement, Calls for Constructive Action

Kenya's president has urged leaders to stop inciting youth into unrest and instead support efforts to tackle unemployment.

Speaking to over 500 religious leaders on Wednesday, he argued that his critics lack an alternative agenda and focus on slogans rather than real issues, asserting, "I am ready for the 2027 test and I have a solid report card."
He mentioned the following achievements:

400,000 youth employed abroad via bilateral labor agreements.
320,000 local jobs under the Affordable Housing Programme.
80,000 digital jobs through Jitume Labs.

He noted that without the creation of over 900,000 job opportunities for young people in the last two years, the recent protests could have been significantly more severe.

Ruto also highlighted key economic gains:

Inflation down from 9.6% to 3.8%
Shilling stabilised at Ksh 130/USD
Dollar reserves up from $7B to $10.8B
Decline in maize prices and improved coffee and sugar sector earnings

In education, the government has hired 76,000 teachers, with 24,000 more planned — the largest recruitment in Kenya’s history. On health, he reaffirmed his commitment to universal healthcare.
