Eswatini Holds US-Deported Inmates in Isolation, Plans Transfer to Countries of Origin
Eswatini’s government confirmed it is holding five third-country nationals deported from the US under a deal with President Trump’s administration.
"The Nation is assured that these inmates pose no threat to the country or its citizens," said acting government spokesperson Thabile Mdluli, calling it "the result of months of robust high-level engagements" with the US.
This comes after the US Homeland Security Department announced a deportation flight carrying migrants from five countries landed in Eswatini.
Authorities say Eswatini and the US will work with the International Organization for Migration "to facilitate the transit of the inmates to their countries of origin."
