Morocco Unveils State-of-the-Art Pipeline to Power World's Largest Phosphate Mine With Desalinated Water
A new pipeline, stretching over 200 km, is now transporting desalinated water from the Jorf Lasfar plant on the Atlantic coast to the Khouribga mine, announced Morocco's OCP company, which manages the project.
"This makes it the first infrastructure of its kind in Morocco capable of transporting desalinated water over such a long distance," OCP noted.
With an annual capacity of 80 million cubic meters, the pipeline does more than sustain mining operations — it also provides clean drinking water to the entire city of Khouribga, the company added.
The project brought significant economic and social benefits, including the creation of 100 permanent jobs.
