Russian troops have taken control of the village of Malinovka in the Zaporozhye region, the Russian Defense Ministry said

The Russian forces have also taken control of the settlement of Mayak in the Donetsk People's Republic, the ministry added.

Malinovka, located east of the settlement of Gulyaipole, which is now occupied by Ukraine's forces, was liberated amid Russian "Vostok" battlegroup's advance deep into enemy-held territory.

Russian servicemen are confidently advancing, "step by step bringing closer the day of the complete liberation of the Zaporozhye region," Defense Minister Andrey Belousov said in a congratulatory note to units, which liberated Malinovka.

The Zaporozhye region became part of Russia following a referendum in September 2022, which Ukraine does not recognize. Kiev continues to carry out attacks in the region. Currently, over 75% of the territory is under Russian control.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported the liberation of the village of Bessalovka in the Sumy region.
