About 1,000 Russia's Kursk Region Residents Listed as Missing: Russian Human Rights Commissioner
"As a result of the work that we carried out upon returning from Ukraine, more than 100 people returned from Sumy. There were two thousand on the list of missing persons," Tatiana Moskalkova told Sputnik.
Moskalkova reported that she sent full lists of missing Kursk residents to the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Lubinets, and to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
"We will continue and hope that we find them alive," she added.
Early in the morning of August 6 last year, Ukrainian militants invaded the Kursk region. Although the invaded area was liberated in early March, many displaced and imprisoned residents are yet to return to their homes.
