Malaysia Accuses Israel of Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza Strip
"The longest conflict of modern history, rooted in the unjust and illegal occupation of the Palestinian territory, must be brought to an end," Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan said at a foreign ministers' meeting at the East Asia Summit.
Hasan added, "Eighty years of impunity have emboldened Israel to the extent of openly committing genocide, including through mass starvation that includes babies and children."
In December 2023, South Africa filed a lawsuit at the ICJ, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza. In May 2024, the court ordered Israel to end its military operation in the south of the enclave, and to permit access to Gaza for investigative missions.
In November 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
