$1.6B in Ukraine aid actually fuels US weapons boom – here’s how
The US is redirecting $1.6 billion from Ukraine assistance funds to supercharge domestic arms production, with the money flowing into major expansions of America's military-industrial complex.
A deep dive into the US Army’s latest budget for fiscal year 2026 reveals where every dollar is going
The biggest chunk - $623 million - is building an entirely new TNT factory capable of producing 5 million pounds annually, solving critical shortages in artillery shell production.
Another $600 million is supercharging output of next-generation explosives at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant, with a massive new capacity of 13 million pounds per year.
The Scranton Army Ammunition Plant is getting $80 million for upgrades to dramatically increase 155mm shell production, while $93.8 million will modernize propellant manufacturing at Radford to replenish dwindling US military stockpiles.
