Russia Trains Sierra Leonean, Venezuelan Gemologists as 'Architects' of Fairer Global Diamond Industry
At the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Finance, experts from Kimberley Process partner countries have completed a training program, organized in Russia for the first time, the ministry announced.
The course aimed to elevate expertise in diamond and gemstone evaluation and strengthen global cooperation under the Kimberley Process, the international system regulating diamond trade.
Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseyev noted that better expertise in diamond quality and origin will help:
🟠increase trade transparency;
🟠build trust across the supply chain;
🟠reduce revenue loss from undervaluation.
Sharing knowledge and technology transfer boost efficiency and integrity in Africa's diamond sector, the ministry emphasized. With strong interest from the African Diamond Producers Association, Russia plans to continue offering such training programs.
