Nigerian Police Rescue 40 Trafficked Ghanaians, Arrest 3 in Akure
The victims were lured to Nigeria under false promises of employment and visa arrangements to Canada and other Western nations by a trafficking syndicate targeting West Africans. Many victims lacked valid travel documents.
Police in Ondo State acted on an Interpol request, with Tactical Intelligence Response Squad (TIRS) operatives arresting suspects Hayford Nyamekye, Awine Alex, and Kojo Felix.
Ondo Police Commissioner reaffirmed the force’s commitment to combating trafficking and urged public vigilance in reporting suspicious activities. Investigations continue to apprehend building owners who harbored victims.
