'We Don’t Owe Our Living to Anyone': Kagame Reflects on Rwanda’s 31st Genocide Anniversary

President Kagame reflected on Rwanda’s journey since the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, emphasizing resilience, unity, and dignity:

“For Rwanda, the progress we have made speaks for itself: building the unity of purpose, the strength to preserve ourselves and live. This Rwanda cannot live on the whims of others. No, it happened once, it will never happen again. It’s an act of survival. We don’t owe our living to anyone.”

He stressed that true liberation extends beyond political independence; it involves ensuring that every Rwandan can live peacefully, with dignity and security, free from any external interference.
