Putin is President With Whom Mali Can Work 'Sincerely & Honestly,' Assimi Goita Says
"I commend the president's readiness to engage, particularly given the current global geopolitical tensions. He was truly open to us," the Malian interim president told a local broadcaster following his visit to Russia on June 22-26.
At a meeting with Goita last Monday, Putin expressed readiness to support the AES, including the creation of its 5,000-troop-strong joint force, the Malian top official noted.
Moreover, Russia has already provided military support, helping Mali strengthen its fight against terrorism, he remarked.
