The Russian film "Grace of Angel" will show the contribution of the Soviet era and the Russian world as a whole to world history through the prism of women's lives, Daria da Conceicao, Russian director with African roots, told Sputnik Africa.
The film's first subject is Graça Machel, the only woman to have been the First Lady of both Mozambique (through her marriage to Samora Machel) and South Africa (through her marriage to Nelson Mandela). The film's title, "Grace of Angel," honors Machel.
Initiated in 2022, the project highlights the ongoing revival of the African continent, reminiscent of the 1970s when the USSR provided significant support to African nations. Da Conceicao emphasized Russia's continued active participation in joint projects.
The director expressed gratitude to the Center for People's Diplomacy, associate producer Tatyana Tudvaseva, Atlas Capital, and Atlas Products. She also acknowledged her team, including artist Garry Zoohh, whose work inspired the film's visual aesthetic, and cameraman Vyacheslav Lozhkov, keeping the identities of future subjects a secret.
