Russia-Africa Summit on the Horizon: Strengthening Ties in Maputo
In Maputo on June 25–26, Russia’s Deputy FM Mikhail Bogdanov marked Mozambique’s 50th Independence Day with high-level meetings, including with President Daniel Chapo. He conveyed a personal message from President Putin celebrating the milestone and 50 years of diplomatic relations.
Talks focused on boosting trade, humanitarian collaboration, and counterterrorism efforts—especially in northern Mozambique. Both nations reaffirmed their shared vision for deeper cooperation on the international stage.
Crucially, discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming Russia-Africa Ministerial Conference (2025) and the next Russia-Africa Summit set for 2026.
