Tanzania Launches Government Program to Redevelop Its Dilapidated Urban Areas
The initiative, covering a total of 24,309.35 hectares, aims to improve living conditions by addressing the lack of basic services and boosting the economic and social value of these zones.
The program aligns with the National Land Policy and National Human Settlements Development Policy, which prioritize improving informal settlements, Deputy Minister for Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development Godfrey Pinda stated.
The government is coordinating implementation with municipal authorities, development partners, and local communities, with the goal of transforming dilapidated areas into modern, safe, and prosperous urban spaces.
