'The Stories Are There — They Need to Be Told': Reviving Africa’s Coffee Identity

Frederick Kawuma, Secretary-General Emeritus of Inter-African Coffee Organization, called for strategic, country-led promotion of coffee — not just as a product, but as a cultural story.

Civil strife may have disrupted coffee traditions, but the legacy remains. In an interview with Sputnik Africa, Kawuma emphasized the need to rebuild that narrative, backed by national strategies and budgets:

“The stories are there and need to be developed and then those stories need to be told.”
