'Before I came to Russia, I thought Russia is bad... But it is the opposite,' Kenyan MP Says
Catherine Omanyo, representing Busia County, praised the country’s fairness and inclusivity on the global stage in an interview with Sputnik Africa.
Calling out media-driven bias and misinformation, Omanyo said Russia is "ready to encourage, motivate, inspire" people of all races. Her experience—from Moscow to #SPIEF2025 in St. Petersburg—challenged long-held stereotypes.
“[...] Many people have been brainwashed. Propaganda has been on the notch higher about Russia,” she noted, urging young people to explore and respect other cultures.
She emphasized that misinformation doesn’t just distort Russia’s image—it also fuels misunderstanding about Africa, reinforcing harmful stereotypes on both sides.
