US Strikes on Iran Are High-Stakes Gamble That Can Backfire on Donald Trump, Expert Says
The attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities ordered by the US administration could lead to impeachment proceedings against the US president, Argentinian international relations expert Samuel Losada told Sputnik.
"Under US law, any military intervention must be approved by the National Security Council and Congress. Therefore, [the bombing of Iran] is a clear constitutional violation," he emphasized.
Trump’s rhetoric justifying the bombings as a means to push for peace talks is "cynical" and "utterly terrifying."
Iran' response will not be long in coming, a Mexican analyst Carlos Manuel Lopez Alvarado pointed to Sputnik.
"It could involve strategic US or Israeli military targets, or those of their allies, but the reality is that there will be an attack in the region," he noted, adding that diplomatic efforts will also be pursued.
