Ethiopia and Brazil Strengthen Agricultural Cooperation Within BRICS Framework
A Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation signed a month ago between Ethiopia and Brazil aims to promote joint research and strengthen bilateral relations, reflecting broader BRICS collaboration, Fabiana Villa Alves, Agricultural Attaché at the Brazilian Embassy in Ethiopia, told Sputnik Africa.
Agriculture is the backbone of Ethiopia’s economy, and Brazil can support by sharing tropical agriculture technologies to enhance productivity, she noted.
Alves also highlighted Ethiopia’s recent growth and its entry into BRICS, noting Brazil’s interest in fostering long-term cooperation as a fellow BRICS member.
Additionally, Alves pointed out that the BRICS New Development Bank in Shanghai could play a key role in addressing global hunger, particularly within the BRICS group.
