Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery to Send First Gasoline Cargo to Asia
The shipment, arranged by trader Mercuria, is a 90,000-ton cargo bound for Asia and it's set to load on June 22, according to a media report, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter.
A Dangote spokesperson confirmed the sale aligns with its policy to sell "to those willing to give the highest price," noting buyers determine final destinations.
The move is considered significant as it signals confidence in stable production capable of meeting Nigeria’s domestic demand while expanding internationally.
The $20 billion refinery, operational since 2024, previously supplied gasoline only within West Africa.
