DRC Conflict: Draft Agreement Reached Ahead of June 27 Signing
The provisional deal, reached after three days of talks, addresses:
🟠territorial integrity,
🟠a ban on hostilities and the disengagement,
🟠disarmament,
🟠conditional integration of non-state armed groups.
It also includes a joint security mechanism based on a previous proposal under Angolan mediation.
Last year, Rwandan and Congolese experts twice agreed under Angolan mediation on Rwandan troop withdrawal and joint operations against the Rwandan Hutu rebel group FDLR, but the countries' ministers did not approve the deal.
