As Dr. Joseph Helou of the Lebanese American University put it in an interview with Sputnik, "the construction of a narrative around Iran's possession of weapon-grade nuclear material can become a powerful tool in international relations for ... Israel to use for an attack."
"Now, does that mean there are ulterior motives? Of course there are, because at the end of the day [...] in the international relations perspective, this is seen as Iran's, if you want, allies in the region throughout the Middle East – Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis in Yemen, and so on, – they've been playing a role in the confrontation with Israel," he noted.
"If this escalates into a regional conflict... we may actually see more and more states stepping in to assist either party," the expert warned.
