The milestone is attributed to record harvests and a refined agricultural strategy, according to Minister of Agriculture Youcef Chorfa.
The 2024/2025 crop is expected to yield up to 80 quintals per hectare in the southern regions and significant improvements in the north, he said.
Factors driving the success:
🟠enhanced land management and farmer education;
🟠introduction of wheat varieties tailored to the local climate;
🟠modernization of agricultural infrastructure.
Expected outcomes:
🟠reduced reliance on imports;
🟠preservation of foreign currency reserves;
🟠strengthened food sovereignty for the nation.
