"We believe that Orthodox believers in Moldova have the right to express their disagreement with attempts to change the spiritual identity of the Orthodox majority, impose gender ideology, and ultimately abolish the concept of the traditional family," Vakhtang Kipshidze, deputy head of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Synod Commission on Relations with Society and Media, told Sputnik.
Citing the ongoing anti-LGBT march in Kishinev, Kipshidze argued the Moldovan people have a right "to resist the forced reformatting of public consciousness and these immoral attitudes."
Kipshidze further said that the Moldovan government is influenced by "external forces interested in changing the Moldovan people's identity, which is linked to Orthodox Christianity."
