The meeting between President Putin and participants in Russia's program for Special Military Operation veterans is taking place in the Kremlin on Russia Day, celebrated annually June 12. According to the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, it is expected to be a "big, substantive conversation."
Sputnik Africa is live as Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a meeting with participants of the Time of Heroes program.
Time of Heroes is a development program designed for participants in Russia’s Special Military Operation in Ukraine, aimed at training them to take on leadership roles in state and municipal governance, as well as in state-owned enterprises.
Putin has repeatedly called the heroes of the special operation the real elite of the country. He noted earlier that among the participants of the first stream of the program Time of Heroes there are more than 60 people holding the Order of Courage, and 21 of them hold the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
Russia will continue to rely on such people, the president stated at the time. It is they, Putin emphasized, who are "the real, not fake, but genuine elite and pride of the country."
