Africa Must Define Its Own Educational Path, Zimbabwean Minister Says
Sputnik Africa spoke to Frederick Shava, Zimbabwe's Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science, and Technology Development, on the sidelines of the International Forum of Ministers of Education in Kazan, Russia.
"Zimbabwe is now committed itself to heritage education. And heritage education goes beyond the three items of teaching, research and community service. It now has two very important aspects, that is innovation and industrialization," he told Sputnik Africa. "And this heritage education will prepare Zimbabweans to participate fully in developing their country."
Moreover, in an interview with Sputnik Africa, the minister highlighted the importance of international collaboration at the forum.
"I can speak only in terms of Zimbabwe, and we come to forums like this one in order to exchange ideas with other institutions. Like in this particular case, institutions in the Russian Federation who have been much more engaged in developing education for their own development. And from that, we have some takeaways when we look at what they've been able to do in various areas of endeavor," he said.
