US Must Engage in 'Direct, Unambiguous' Security Talks With Russia Amid Ukrainian Conflict, Economist Sachs Says
The US and Russia face significant security issues that became even "more dramatic" following a recent attack on the Russian bomber fleet, which Jeffrey Sachs believes was orchestrated by the CIA.
The CIA could withhold its role in the attack on Russian bomber fleet from the White House due to the nature of the agency, the economist told US journalist Tucker Carlson.
"The CIA is a self-protecting, self-operating organization that has not had accountability for 50 years, and so it is an out-of-control organization," he noted.
Russian FM Lavrov earlier said that Moscow will restart strategic stability talks with the US only under conditions of equality.
On June 1, Russia's MoD said Ukraine conducted terrorist drone attacks on its airfields. Kiev's strikes reportedly sparked internal White House talks about reassessing US support for Ukraine.
