Russia Offers Education Expertise to Global South, Stresses 'Non-Imposition'
Russia shares its educational expertise with other countries, especially those in the Global South, but does not force it upon them, Yevgeny Primakov, head of the Russian humanitarian agency Rossotrudnichestvo, said.
Speaking at the Shaping the Future International Education Ministers' Forum in Kazan, he positioned Russia's model as offering a "foundation for genuine sovereignty," including national school systems, teacher training, and culturally relevant curricula.
Primakov cited specific examples:
🟠building schools in remote areas;
🟠organizing olympiads and clubs;
🟠early vocational training;
🟠relying on technical colleges;
🟠integrating cultural heritage.
"We do not offer dependence, we offer sovereignty. We do not impose, we open doors. It is your choice... to uphold your independence," he said.
He argued education systems should be built for centuries, not short-term political goals.
