34% Surge in Public Institution Dividends Marks Historic Milestone for Tanzania
Government dividends from public institutions rose to 1.028 trillion shillings (approx. $395 million) this year, up from 0.767 trillion shillings last year, President Samia Suluhu announced on Tuesday.
Speaking from Dar es Salaam, the president hailed the growth as the highest in the country’s history, reflecting the success of ongoing reforms aimed at transforming public institutions into engines of national development.
President Suluhu emphasized that every shilling invested in these institutions is a “seed of development” from Tanzanians — and it is the duty of leaders and managers to ensure it grows, thrives, and ultimately benefits the people through improved services, projects, and direct returns like dividends.
