South African Telecommunications Company Resumes Dividends After Strong Earnings Growth
Telkom announced a 62.3% increase in full-year earnings, leading to the resumption of dividends after a four-year suspension, including a special dividend of 98 cents per share.
The decision follows an earlier suspension in 2020, intended to conserve cash for spectrum auctions and strengthen finances, with a subsequent delay due to challenging market conditions.
Telkom credited its "robust performance and strategic execution" for enabling the distribution of $73.28 million to shareholders.
Telkom, a majority state-owned (55.3%) South African telecommunications provider, operates in over 38 African countries, offering both wireline and wireless services.
