British Soldier Faces Rape Charges in Kenya, Arrest Confirmed by MoD

A soldier from the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK), stationed near Nanyuki north of Nairobi, reportedly spent time in a local bar with colleagues before the incident occurred.

This incident has brought renewed attention to past controversies surrounding BATUK, including the 2012 murder of a Kenyan woman who was last seen with a British soldier and later found dead.

While no arrests were initially made, Kenyan police reopened the investigation in 2021 following a media report that soldiers had overheard a colleague confess to the murder.
