SADC Ministers Reaffirm Commitment to Regional Integration & Trade
Trade ministers from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) met in Harare, Zimbabwe, urging member states to quickly approve key trade agreements. These measures are designed to break down barriers and boost sustainable growth across the region.
Regional integration is central to SADC’s mission and essential for building a prosperous shared future, Amon Murwira, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, said.
The SADC Protocol on Trade, managed by the Committee of Ministers of Trade, helps drive economic growth by expanding regional trade in goods and services. Meanwhile, the Ministerial Taskforce on Regional Economic Integration is working to put the SADC Industrialization Strategy (2015–2063) into action—a plan focused on inclusive development by making the most of the region’s resources.
Wrapping up the meeting, ministers agreed to:
strengthen cooperation;
speed up ratification of trade deals;
create an environment conducive to industrial growth and expanded intra-regional trade.
