The situation when those who died for the liberation of the world, including Germany, from Nazism are being forgotten today is unacceptable, speaker of Russian parliament's lower house, State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin said in an address to the head of the German Bundestag. At a press conference with Trump, Chancellor Merz "allowed himself to distort history by forgetting who actually liberated the world from Nazism," Volodin noted. Rewriting History & Forgetting Heroes Inexcusable: Russian Official on Merz's Neglect of WWII Heroes
Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has sent an address to the head of the German parliament, as well as to the leaders of the factions, in connection with the "cynical" statements made by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about the outcome of World War II.
The situation when those who died for the liberation of the world, including Germany, from Nazism are being forgotten today is unacceptable, speaker of Russian parliament's lower house, State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin said in an address to the head of the German Bundestag.
"Politicians can be forgiven for various mistakes, except for one – desecrating the memory of those thanks to whom we all live today," speaker of Russian parliament's lower house Vyacheslav Volodin stated in an address to the head of the German Bundestag.
At a press conference with Trump, Chancellor Merz "allowed himself to distort history by forgetting who actually liberated the world from Nazism," Volodin noted. Merz then claimed the US ended WWII in Europe and liberated Germany from Nazism.
"The Soviet multinational people did this, paying the high price of 27 million lives," the Russian official stressed.
Against this backdrop, Merz's support for the Kiev regime — now a terrorist organization carrying out attacks on Russian civilians — is especially cynical, Volodin said, adding that Berlin's plans to produce missiles in Ukraine is drawing Germany into the conflict with Russia.
