The absence of the Ukrainians at the exchange site with Russians, who brought the Ukrainian dead for repatriation this Saturday is just one example, Laurent Brayard, a French journalist in Donbass, explained to Sputnik Africa.
Kiev has a tendency to "leave and abandon its dead," thus showing "contempt" for its soldiers;
"Many protests take place in the streets, with women, children, relatives holding signs with the names of soldiers they are looking for, often their husband, brother, father," he said.
Kiev, after all, "drags its feet" in formalizing the status of the missing, a crucial step for compensating widows and families.
In broad daylight, "men are beaten, forcibly taken away" by recruitment officers, with numerous videos of this available on social media.
Ukraine's non-compliance with military agreements with Russia, such as ceasefires, is nothing more than a "lack of will to negotiate in a healthy and honest manner."
However, Russia is honest in its intentions:
"Russia is always very legalistic. It is a country that respects treaties, honors its commitments, and keeps its word. You can look far back and see that this has almost always been the case," Brayard concluded.
