Russia Increases Wheat Exports to West Africa by 38%
From January to May, Russia exported over 580,000 tonnes of wheat to West African countries, according to the Russian public agency Agroexport.
Nigeria: 2.9 times growth.
Togo: received its first shipments.
Main African importers of Russian wheat: Egypt, Sudan, Libya.
Over the past six agricultural seasons, Russia has increased its exports by a third, according to OZK, a leading Russian agricultural export organization. From 15 million tonnes in 2020/21, the country reached an impressive 20 million tonnes in 2023/24, reshaping African agricultural markets.
