MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian Investigative Committee has opened and investigates three criminal cases on three terrorist attacks on the facilities of the railway infrastructure in Russia's Bryansk and Kursk regions on Saturday and Sunday.
All three terrorist attacks committed in Russia's Kursk and Bryansk regions were organized by Ukrainian special services, Russian Investigative Committee chief Alexander Bastrykin said on Wednesday.
"The evidence gathered directly indicates that all three terrorist attacks were, without any doubt, organized by the special services of Ukraine," Bastrykin stated at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and members of the Russian government.
The locations of three explosive devices were identified, the official noted.
"The locations of three explosive devices have been identified and their elements have been seized. Experts have established that the explosive devices were supplied with a plastic substance of foreign manufacture. Their capacity was about 15 kilograms of TNT equivalent," Bastrykin pointed out, adding that the devices placed under bridge in Bryansk and Kursk regions on railway are of Ukrainian origin.
A total of 388 passengers were on the train that collided with a bridge in the Bryansk Region, the Investigative Committee chief added.
"The locomotive of the Klenovo-Moscow passenger train, carrying 388 passengers, collided with the fallen fragments of the bridge... 122 people were injured in the attack. Seven of them died. This is the driver and six passengers," Bastrykin said.
The investigation of the terrorist attacks in Kursk and Bryansk regions continues, all the perpetrators and organizers are being sought, Bastrykin said.
"The total amount of damage caused as a result of the terrorist attacks, according to preliminary estimates, is more than 1 billion rubles [$12.6 million]. The terrorist attacks are being investigated in close cooperation with the FSB and the Russian Interior Ministry," Bastrykin said.
