Journalists from Cameroon News Agency (CNA) have joined SputnikPro global educational initiative. Sputnik Africa correspondent Aliyu Bello held a masterclass for Cameroonian media professionals on countering disinformation. This topic is especially relevant in Cameroon's media landscape as the country prepares for presidential elections later this year.How do emotional triggers make people believe false information? What digital tools can be used to verify the authenticity of photos and videos? How has the approach to fact-checking changed in the age of artificial intelligence? These and many other questions were discussed during the English-language training session.CNA Executive Editor Nfor Hanson Nchanji thanked the Sputnik team for hosting the workshop and expressed hope for similar projects in the future.In 2024, Sputnik News Agency and Radio and the Cameroon News Agency (CNA) signed a memorandum of understanding agreeing to exchange content in English.SputnikPro is an educational initiative designed to provide journalists, press secretaries, bloggers, and students with valuable insights and skills through seminars, lectures, and master classes. Led by top media managers from Russia and beyond, along with experts from the Sputnik agency, the program has been active since 2018. It offers both in-person meetings and online sessions, reaching a wide audience across 24 countries and engaging more than 12,700 participants to date.
