Russian Companies Eyeing Ethiopian Energy Projects: Thermal, Hydro & Renewables
"We are open to exchanging experience in personnel training, rational use of water resources, as well as in the field of geological exploration," Russian Deputy Energy Minister Roman Marshavin said following a meeting with Ethiopian Ambassador Genet Teshome Jirru.
The parties paid special attention to the project to modernize the Melka Wakena hydroelectric power station, built by Soviet specialists in 1988. Since its commissioning, the station's equipment has not undergone major repairs, and today a significant part of the infrastructure requires updating.
During the talks, the parties also discussed the prospects for bilateral partnership at key international venues, including BRICS and the International Renewable Energy Agency.
