Magnitude 5.8 Earthquake Strikes Southwest of Turkey

The epicenter of the earthquake was located offshore, some ten kilometers off the Turkish coast, near the seaside resort of Marmaris.

A 14-year-old girl died in Fethiye after suffering a panic attack during evacuation. Some 70 people were injured as they fled to safety.

The earthquake was also felt in southeastern Greece, on the Dodecanese islands, including Rhodes where tourists were evacuated from their hotel, and in Egypt, according to local seismic monitoring organizations, with no injuries.
