Nama Festival in Namibia Dedicated to Uniting Nama People Worldwide
The sixth annual Nama Cultural Festival, themed "Nama people pursuing progress, growth, and sustainability," honors Nama heritage and brings the global community together, Dirk Eigub, the festival's chairperson, said.
"People uplift one another, creating an environment where everyone can grow spiritually and emotionally, reinforcing the idea that we are all interconnected in our journeys," he said.
Nama community is a living entity that requires ongoing care and commitment from all members, Eigub stated.
The festival goes beyond celebration, serving as a platform to pass history through elders’ stories, dance, and art, Keetmanshoop Mayor Annalize Knaus said.
She added that true dignity comes from reclaiming land, economic power, and rightful status – not just cultural displays.
The festival is taking place since May 28 till June 6 in Keetmanshoop.
