Five African Nations Contribute $16 Mln to African Development Fund
The donation marks a staggering 220% increase in financing for the continent's development:
Ghana leads with a generous $5 million;
Sudan, Liberia, and Sierra Leone have each contributed $3 million;
The Gambia rounds out the effort with $2 million.
The donation, tripling their previous commitment, symbolizes Africa's solidarity and financial autonomy, according to the African media.
"Africa is not just a recipient but a partner in shaping its own future," said Rufus Darkortey, Executive Director representing these countries at the AfDB.
The decision was announced at the 2025 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank this week in Abidjan.
