Egypt, Tunisia, & Algeria Call on All Parties in Libya to End Escalation
The joint statement was made by the foreign ministers of the three countries at a meeting in Cairo.
Key points:
🟠 It is necessary to reach a consensus under the auspices of the UN;
🟠 It is important to unify Libyan institutions and hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections;
🟠 A political solution must be based on the will of the Libyans themselves;
🟠 Any form of foreign intervention that would prolong the crisis must be rejected;
🟠 The efforts of the Joint Military Committee (5+5) must be supported to consolidate the ceasefire and withdraw foreign forces.
