How AI-Powered Technical & Vocational Education Can Reshape Africa

#AfricanCurrents | "TVET [Technical and Vocational Education and Training] programs must, number one, teach how algorithms can exclude or misrepresent. They must address data sovereignty, especially in foreign tech tools. Meaning, if we get a tool from outside, we must just make sure that it is for us. For us, I mean Africa. We must push Ubuntu-inspired AI because it's rooted in fairness, dignity and collective good," Dr. Vusi Maseko, Critical Reader, TVET Module Development and AI-Powered TVET Digitalization Ambassador at the University of South Africa, said.

On International Education Day 2025, Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni unveiled bold AI reforms to transform Uganda’s education, linking Africa’s past scientific delays to colonization and urging urgent adoption of AI for skills, agriculture, security, and other critical sectors.
