Silencing the Guns, Skilling the Youth: Africa’s Path Forward
“Africa Month is a month of reflection,” said Tandiwe Thelma Mgxwati, Minister Plenipotentiary of the South African Embassy in Moscow. “As much as we are reminded of our history, we must now look forward to what it is that we want to achieve in the future.”
Speaking at the Africa Day event hosted by the Institute of African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, she emphasized the urgent need for economic development, youth empowerment, and peace across the continent.
"I'd like to see the African continent [...] that is free, that is prosperous, and that is free of wars. We would have loved to see the silencing of guns by 2030. [...] We have a youth that is really looking forward to a continent that they can build and be part of and be proud of," she told Sputnik Africa.
Mgxwati also highlighted the importance of equal and respectful partnerships to help Africa reach its full potential as a prosperous, peaceful, and united continent.
