AES Joint Military Drills: 'One Finger Cannot Pick Up a Stone'
The involvement of Togo and Chad in the Tarha Nakal 2 joint military exercises reflects a growing commitment to regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism, Malian geopolitical analyst Abdoulaye Diallo said.
The drills are built around a joint command structure aimed at improving operational synchronization, reflecting lessons learned from earlier exercises, he explained to Sputnik Africa.
According to the analyst, these maneuvers aim to:
▫enhance the interoperability of forces;
▫strengthen tactical coordination;
▫reinforce ties with local communities.
Moreover, countries such as Guinea, Benin, or Senegal could soon join the initiative, Diallo pointed out.
ℹ The second edition of Tarha-Nakal — meaning "love of country" in Tamashek — runs from May 15 to June 4 in Niger. It unites the armed forces of the AES member states, along with troops from Chad and Togo.
