Moscow hosts the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues on May 27-29. African countries have shown strong interest in the meeting as over 40 countries and several international organizations, including the AU, are participating in the event.
Transnational organized crime, especially money laundering and terrorist financing, is "a big elephant" in Sierra Leone, and the West African country seeks Russia's support to tackle it, Minister of Internal Affairs Morie Lengor stated to Sputnik Africa in an exclusive interview.
"To bring it [transnational crime] down, we need to work together collectively and collaboratively," the minister emphasized.
Russia has a lot of experience in AI technology, and Sierra Leone is exploring how it can use this knowledge in the security sector, the official noted on the sidelines of the 13th International Meeting of High Representatives for Security Issues in Moscow.
"For us to be here is to see how we can make partnership and also link with other African countries. And of course, with the support of Russia, to see how we can tackle the problem of transnational organized crime. And also ensure that we share ideas to have a sustainable solution to some of these serious problems," the official said.
