Ancient Secrets Rise: Egyptian Archaeologists Unearth Three Tombs of New Kingdom in Luxor

The discovered tombs belong to:

⦁ a man named Amun-em-Ipet from the Ramesside period;

⦁ granary supervisor Baki;

⦁ a man named Es, a supervisor of the Temple of Amun and mayor of the Northern Oasis.

"[The discovery] is a significant addition to Egypt's rich archaeological record and a boost to its position on the global cultural tourism map," Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathy stated.

Work is ongoing to clean and study the inscriptions and burial shafts in preparation for scientific publication, according to the head of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mohammed Ismail Khaled.
