Congo Honored at Sports Tournament in Russia Aimed at 'Strengthening International Ties'
Congolese guests are taking part in the "Coup de Force" tournament, held in the Moscow region to commemorate the Victory over Nazi Germany in World War II and pay tribute to the exploits of soldiers in the Russian special military operation zone in Ukraine.
"Such sporting events play an important role in the patriotic education of youth, contribute to the preservation of historical memory, and the transmission of moral values to new generations," Jocelin Patrick Mandzela, honorary president of the Africa Centrum (African Center), a partner of the event, told Sputnik.
Congo's participation in the tournament is a "sign of respect for the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War," he added.
